At the heart of every good story, the reader becomes committed to it, eagerly reading on to learn more about the characters and joining them in championing their causes, their passions, their missions. I've reached the heart of my own story with a career that spans more than 20 years of writing, photography, public relations, marketing, fundraising and relationship-building. My story includes chapters in the tourism, culinary, building, education, healthcare, government and non-profit industries, among many others.
On paper, I hold a bachelor of arts degree in photojournalism with a minor in creative writing from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Online, I have an information-packed resume that includes freelance consulting and writing and titles ranging from director of communications and public relations for a liberal arts college to marketing director of a tourism agency – and even a mention of my role as a cable television talk show host and my early start in the healthcare industry. At home, you can find me covered with flour on Apple Pie Day, along with my daughters who inspire me to see life through their three sets of blue, green and brown eyes. In the stands, you'll find me offering constructive advice to NCAA Division III referees at one of my hard-working, basketball-coach-of-a-husband's games at Berry College here in Rome, Georgia. Outside, you'll likely encounter me in the garden watering the tomatoes, chasing one of our three puppies around in the yard or among our tall Georgia pines, where I sit in the middle of the forest with my laptop, fiercely pounding the keyboard and being thankful for gift of storytelling.
